This new book, written by Andre Vladimirescu, who was instrumental in the development of SPICE at the University of California Berkeley, introduces computer simulation of electrical and electronics circuits based on the SPICE standard. Relying on the functionality first supported in SPICE2 that is now supported in all SPICE programs, this text is addressed to all users of electrical simulation. The approach to learning circuit simulation is to interpret simulation results in relation to electrical engineering fundamentals; the book asks the student to solve most circuit examples by hand before verifying the results with SPICE. Addressed to both the SPICE novice and the experienced user, the first six chapters provide the relevant information on SPICE functionality for the analysis of linear as well as nonlinear circuits. Each of these chapters starts out with a linear example accessible to any new user of SPICE and proceeds with nonlinear transistor circuits. The latter part of the book goes into more detail on such issues as functional and hierarchical models, distortion analysis, basic algorithms in SPICE and related options parameters, and, how to direct SPICE to find a solution when it does not converge to a solution. The approach emphasizes that SPICE is not a substitute for knowledge of circuit operation but a complement. The SPICE Book is different from previously published books in the approach of solving circuit problems with a computer. The solution to most circuit examples is sketched out by hand first and followed by a SPICE verification. For more complex circuits it is not feasible to find the solution by hand but the approach stresses the need for the SPICE user tounderstand the results. Readers gain a better comprehension of SPICE thanks to the importance placed on the relation between EE fundamentals and computer simulation. The tutorial approach advances from the hand solution of a circuit to SPICE verification and simulation results interpretation. This book teaches the approach to electrical circuit simulation rather than a specific simulation program. Examples are simulated alternatively with SPICE2, SPICE3 or PSPICE. Accurate descriptions, simulation rationale and cogent explanations make this an invaluable reference.

Not really what I thought

I bought the book to give to a new engineer to get him started in Spice modeling, but it isn't really about that. It's more about developing spice models for new components than it is about using Spice. It's for really senior-level people wanting to take Spice to the next level than it is for a newbie who just downloaded LTSpice or Tina and who's trying to figure out how to make it work.

Spice made easy with clear thoughtout format.

This book has just about everthing you want to know about spice from it's history in early 60's, to solving convergance in array of circuits,which are difficult to simulate.I found the book to be useful for it's tables to construct better and more models than I had ever imagined possible.The author does use alot of mathematical expressions to explain the spice syntax, but the format is great, and well thought out.This book is the "toolbox" for spice. Others fall short, but this book I'm gald to have on my shelf.

I'm an electrical engineer but no SPICE expert

This book will take you from using SPICE to using SPICE with a decent knowledge of what's under-the-hood. It's well organized, uses a good consistent vocabulary, provides many examples and code snippets, does a good job decomposing some of the constructs (model innards, etc.) that you might use and wish you knew more about. I hope this helps somebody checking out this book. The table of contents is viewable so check that out. There's also a section on converge which is really helpful.

that wasn't the worse, when I told to myself

When this book arrived to me, the first thing that I did was to read about ADX, some rationale about it, how to calculate it, etc. What did I find? Half a page about "interpretation" no only about ADX, but also about +DI, -DI, DX, and ADXR. Nevertheless, that wasn't the worse, when I told to myself: "well, how can I calculate it", I found that I must purchase the "A to Z Companion Spreadsheet" to learn how to do it. I am very disappointed. Considering that was my first experience with this book, I don't know what else surprises I will find.

Review of Technical Analysis A-Z

This book is a great reference on the subject of technical analysis. It is well-written and contains charts with examples for each study. It does a good job of explaining each study that was prevalent when the book was written (2nd ed, 2001). Most of the illustrations and examples are from the 80's. The books strengths are that it explains the math behind each study and provides a spreadsheet of results. A companion electronic spreadsheet for each study is available for purchase. The only drawback to this book is that there are always new studies that you will not find in A-Z, but, particularly if you are new to technical analysis, I would recommend this book to help you understand the numbers and how each study is calculated. It is an excellent alphabetical study-by-study explanation for the beginning to intermediate level-trader or investor. Traders who follow fundamental analysis might also find this helpful if for no other reason than to understand the logic behind each study and how to interpret them on a chart.

Technical tool encyclopedia

If you are looking for a technical tool reference book for your investing/trading library this is the one. This book covers (in alphabetical order) every trading tool I am aware of including the O' Neal CAN SLIM method, trend lines, volume, stochastics, Williams %R, every kind of moving average, candlestick charting, decline/advance, oscillators and just about everything else you will run across in trading stocks. The author gives an overview of the indicator, the interpretation, an example, then shows how to calculate it with the mathematical formulas used and a table for reference. I read this book from cover to cover and learned a great deal. I believe it is a must have for beginners if you are serious about using technical tools to time your trades correctly at proper buy points.

God Gave us Everything for Health in the Earth

Thirty-two years ago, my first child was born. I ran to the Pediatrician for every little thing. One day it dawned on me that my parents and grandparents didn't do that. My grandmother a Cherokee Indian used all types of herbs and other home remedies.

The deeper I looked into "Back to Eden" the more I realized the importance of understanding the medicinal qualities of foods and herbs. This book improved my parental abilities to care for my family, by providing healthier alternatives to drugs.

We all know from the media about the horror stories of dangerous side-effects from some of todays' prescription medications. It is increasingly important for consumers to read labels to determine what adverse side effect may result from those medications. Labels now help us to determine the contents of foods that may also, be hazardous to ourselves and our family's health.

This book, "Back to Eden" has reduced needless trips to the doctors office and improved the overall quality of life and health for me and my family.

Passionate About Natural Remedies/Foods

Because I just received this book a few days ago, I've only had a chance to read a few pages. So far, it is quite captivating and therefore, makes me want to read it more. I ordered this book on a high recommendation from someone who eats natural foods and uses herbal remedies. She basically said, if you need any book about eating and healing naturally, you have to get this one. Because I am new to learning about herbal remedies, I knew I had to order this because I see that it's contents are working for someone I know. It is a very thick book so, I definitely feel like I will get plenty of information from it. The writer seems to be very passionate about herbal medicine and natural foods as everyday necessities. I am looking forward to reading this book from beginning to end and soaking in as much information as I can through this source because I know it will be beneficial for myself, as well as my family. The only negative to mention about this book, and the reason I'm rating it with 4 stars instead of 5, is that the print (font) is extremely small. If the font were larger, it would be the perfect read.

A must for learning how to love your natural hair and grow it!!

I have worn weaves and braids all my life. I was never taught how to properly care for my hair as a young girl. Because of this, and out of frustration of dealing with it natural, I damaged it repeatedly by applying relaxers and color over many many years.
Finally becoming fed up that my hair simply would not grow past a certain length - I started to do some research on African American natural hair care. That's when I came across this book. After reading it I felt like my eyes were finally opened to how to properly take care of my hair. Audrey does an excellent job of including the science of hair, balancing the hair with certain products, knowing how to trim your hair, using the proper combs, and so much more.
I don't care how the media portrays I should wear my hair anymore. I am not interested in weaves or relaxers anymore. I am now proud of my hair and the versatility it brings to. I am just mad I didn't read the book sooner.

Great book to read if you need some education on how to take care of your hair and grow it.

Every black woman should read it

I love this book and tried to tell all of the black women I know about it. It does way more that just recommend products, which its gives an extensive list of. It tells you about the science of OUR hair and how it is structurally different. There is so much misinformation on Youtube, blogs and internet searches about what to use and which method is the best. She gives you a way to figure out what will work best for your hair. If there is too much protein or moisture, why it breaking. Why is important to actually shampoo and deep condition. Routine is our friend. She even goes over hair care for the little ones. They don't need all of those childrens' products and special shampoos. Bought it as a E-book, plan to get it as a hardback so I can keep it around for a while. Something I plan to read again.

Great Book!

I recommend every sister that struggles with their hair get this book!
It has given me so much knowledge about our hair and has helped with me and my daughter's hair so much.
Audrey gives essential information that teaches how our hair works, then offers detailed instructions on how to care for it.
She also has product recommendations and shows you how to shop for your own hair products.
I've read quite a few hair books and none have come close to the information provided in this book not to mention when I was in high school (many yrs ago) I studied cosmetology and still didnt learn as much as I did about "our hair" that i did from this book, mostly because the courses were focused on caucasian hair - every mannequin had caucasian hair, every book referred to caucasian hair with exception of a short lesson on "curly" hair but nothing remotely close to a in depth education of coily kinky african american hair.
Again that was in the 90's, so I'm sure nowadays there are cosmetology schools that emphasize more on all hair types BUT the average sister shouldnt need cosmetology school to be able to understand and maintain her hair.
This book gives you the knowledge and understanding you need to have healthy hair and correct years of damage we've done by simply not knowing.

The survival of the planet in the '90s, according to Nanus, coauthor of Leaders: The Strategies for Taking Over, depends on whether world leaders are able to envision critical changes in both the public and the private sectors. Using a pet-food company as an example, Nanus contends that the ideas and methods involved in developing a "vision" are equally applicable to a product, a government, a public service agency, a church, a school and a penitentiary. Success, he argues, depends on the originator's capacity to "attract, commit and energize people." But Nanus only partially succeeds in defining these intangible attributes, and his proposed ways to realize one's vision--including lists, "vision audits" and tables--differ little from common-sense strategies typically advocated in how-to-succeed guides. Be Thou My Vision

The title says it all. The underlying premise of this book is that the vision of an organization is all-important. Everything else is commentary. Nanus begins by defining a vision as a realistic, creditable, attractive future and explaining how it works and why it is needed. He then moves to the development of that vision and finally concludes with the implementation of the vision. Prime Pet Foods is used as an example of the steps that can be taken in the process of developing and implementing such a vision.
