Enjoyable and helpful sports read

It was quite a surprise to discover a Brentford player had written a book. Not just a book on football too, but with a slant on performance and getting the most out of life. Respect to the author for being a professional player and businessman as well. The book itself provides interesting insights if you are a bees fan. On the performance side it is thought provoking and helpful on addressing how to get the best out of yourself. I believe however there is more to come from the author further down the line.

Not just personal but universal

What's great about Richard's book is that it is not just his personal story - it is full of advice about how to maximize your own athletic potential. Richard is qualified in NLP (Neuro-Linguistc Programming) and offers great examples and lessons throughout the story of his season. Highly recommended for any athlete, but particularly for goalkeepers.

great book

This book is great if you want the facts and truth from the actors in the show. Instead from fox news or people trying to horn swaggle the reader or viewer. Freedom isnt just for americans or western civilisation. Tariq ali lets us see inside the revolution from first person view.
This book tells and shows how america influences and their proxies, fellow capitalist pigs and lackeys will do anything. After reading this book you should get the feeling that america isnt the only country that is home to the brave, and that every country like america will fight to remain the land of the free.
Other countries have aspirations too. Dont be an obstacle.

In this book you will find the truth about some government leaders in South America.
Inside you can find that some leaders that are portrait as monsters are great people who are working for the good of their countries.
The right-wing emperors, supported by the corrupted Global Media and some dull allies, create the distortion of these governments with their lies, their manipulations and their lack of humanity.
Here you will find the truth about Chavez, Morales, Castro and Correa.
The tremendous power of the US to bring down these democratic elected presidents is out of its mind.
Capitalism is destroying the world, our only hope is to turn and see these leaders, follow their examples, and create a better and possible world.
US citizens must read this book, also Latin Americans, the empire and they allies are brainwashing us to became part of this terrible New World Order.

Finally, the other side of things

Our media casts these modern day leaders as villians, against everything good and American. Maybe they don't want to be Americans, at least Americans from the United States. It seems like our foreign policy hasn't been working so well down there and the people haven't been complaining so much. Except for the CIA inspired riots and rebellions that took place in Venezuela by those who are against Hugo Chavez (God rest his soul), for instance, the average Venezuelan was happy that he decided to look out for his people rather than the best interests of our corporate higher ups who are there to use and take what they think belongs to them. Whether you agree or disagree with these four leaders, what's good for citizens of the United States may not always be good for the people of Bolivia, Ecuador, Brazil and Venezuela.

About the Author

Very insightful

Wow, can't believe I'd never heard of this Zambian author.
Everything I've ever wondered on the pros & cons of China being in Africa, what they're doing around the world and why... Is in this book.
Dambisa produced such a well researched book, without allowing this to feel like reading a thesis and now I understand why her books are always on the NYT best sellers list.
I learnt a lot about the workings of the commodities market and why it's not in China's best interest to disenfranchise the countries they trade with.
One thing is clear... China's strategy has been simple. They need commodities for their burgeoning middle class so they trade aggressively, even overpay. Don't talk to me about the US strategy because they also need commodities, but they've created wars and simply took what they needed.
A lot to be learnt from China however the bigger question is... is the rest of the world prepared for the impending commodities calamity due to scarcity? Seems it's only China that's preparing for this

Dr. Dambisa Moyo describes the global impact of China's dominance with such detail that it's difficult to factually challenge some of her arguments. This book's title may tempt one to brush it off as one of a myriad of research papers written on China, specifically the doom associated with its global dominance. However, it is worth noting that Dr. Moyo touches on some of the challenges that have a global focus currently, such as food security, pollution etc; most of which have emanated from actions from well known super powers. An excellent read.

Understanding experimental EPR results made easy

Just as its title implies, this book is devoted to electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) properties of atoms and molecules containing unpaired electrons. Written by one of the most senior, and best known, authorities on EPR of small molecules, it is unique in its hands-on approach to the understanding and analysis of the experimental EPR spectra. Started as a practical introduction into the theory of EPR spectra for new co-workers arriving to Prof. Weltner's laboratory, this book enables a student or scientist already comfortable with the concepts of spin and quantum mechanics, but not yet intimate with the field of EPR, to enter this new area as rapidly, and as painlessly as possible. The bulk of the book goes through a careful analysis of experimental EPR results for representative systems, paying careful attention to the physical sources of interactions observed in the spectra. A special emphasis, lacking in most other sources, is given to the relationship between gas-phase and matrix isolation experiments. The book is accompanied by a comprehensive review of experimental data for small molecules published before 1983. Although somewhat dated, this data is still immensely useful, and is not easy to find otherwise. This book will is a welcome, and little known, addition to a bookshelf of any researcher working in the field.

Great book to share with a child...

I can not say enough good things about this book. It teaches us that parrots are very social creatures that are best left to live in flocks in the wild. The story is written so that a child can enjoy and understand it. The illustrations are breathtakingly beautiful.

After the story is told, the author includes information on parrots as well as things we can do to help protect them. The two stories about former pet parrots now living in rescues brought tears to my eyes.

It is also important to note that the author went the extra mile to have this book printed on paper that is made from 10% flax, 40% recycled post comsumer waste, and 50% sustainably harvested trees. Many books are printed on paper made from Indonesian ranforest trees; contributing to the destruction of the parrots native habitat.

Kudos to Myra Tweti for an excellent family-friendly and eco-friendly book!

Learned about parrots, but in a fun way

I read 'Here, There and Everywhere' to my 4-year-old daughter and she loved it -- we both did. Sreeeet is a lorikeet who is captured and taken from his home and family and ends up with an apartment-dwelling family in New York. The story, told from Sreeeet's point of view, explains why parrots are unhappy in captivity, and why they behave the way they do when trapped. My daughter and I learned about something we see every day -- the brightly colored parrots in the neighborhood pet store. They are no longer just another animal to look at and then walk by. In addition, this is just a good story. We laughed at the funny parts, swooned at the beautiful parts, and couldn't wait to see how it ended. My daughter asked me to please read it to her again the next night, and I did.

Don't miss this fabulous children's book

When I bought my first copy and read it with my niece who is 10, she loved it and both of us were amazed at the beautiful artwork. This book is not a fantasy book, it's about a group of parrots, one of whom is trapped in the wild and taken for sale to another country but eventually winds his way back home. It gives children a taste of the problems encountered in the illegal wild bird trade which is an important dose of reality. I was so impressed I bought a second copy for my grandchildren, ages 5 and 10, and I highly recommend this book to anyone. It is beautifully done and educational at the same time.

Hallelujah!!! A Photoshop book that indicates new or improved Photoshop features! Throughout the book you will find a red star within the Table of Contents or within a set of text telling the reader that this is something new or improved in the Photoshop program. It is astonishing how few books on this subject provide this.

Having begun this review on a happy note let me further the notion that it is an excellent text if you are the kind of person that likes to have all of the facts. There are books on Photoshop that instruct the reader to do this, and then do that, etc., to achieve a certain goal. Well, this book will also instruct you in a similar fashion but will also furnish you with much more detail to foster a good understanding of why you are doing this or that. In fact, in addition to the paper book, it will also give you the ability to download an eBook or PDF version of the complete text, and, at no additional charge. Thus learning need not be limited to the computer on which you have Photoshop installed. But first, let’s look at the hard facts about this book.

Visual Quick Start, Photoshop CC (let’s use PSCC from here on) is a 520 page paper back volume. It lists for $39.99, however, as of the writing of this review, it sold on Amazon for $31.33. A Kindle edition is available for $16. The Book Level is rated at Beginner/Intermediate, a rating with which I would agree with more emphasis on the more experienced Beginner. The authors, Elaine Weinmann and Peter Lourekas, in addition to being prolific authors, are also designers and have taught the subject at a number of prestigious schools of design. Addition-ally, the reader can download many of the photos used in the book, so that you can follow along with the lessons using the same photos.

As I alluded to in the beginning of this review, this is a book for people who learn by doing as well as by inhaling all of the pertinent information about a procedure, process or whatever is the subject matter being studied. It is a no-nonsense book that gets right into Photoshop CC in all of its phases. There were a considerable number of instances where I learned something new or at least new to me. After a few of these, I went back to Photoshop CS5 which also resides on my computer and invariably, that feature or process was on CS5 as well. The point here is the fact that all of the previous books that I had read on CS5 did not contain any information on these nuances of Photoshop even though they were part of the program. It is also evidence that the authors of this book on PSCC are not leaving anything out because it is from a previous version of the program. For beginners, that is a crucial point. As a beginner, you want to learn all you can about PSCC even though the information may be old to a veteran. You can see why the book is 520 pages long. It is because it is comprised of a considerable amount of information about its subject. Also, as stated previously, it is a no-nonsense book that eschews flowery language and gets right to the point. This fact may be a stumbling block to some beginners who have no experience with programs like Photoshop.

The book covers all phases of Photoshop CC including Adobe Bridge and Cam-era Raw. It then provides good basic sections on Workspace, Panels & Presets, Pixel Basics, Layer Essentials Selections & Masks, History and Using Color. This is followed by what many Photoshop users consider to be the reason for its existence, namely, Adjustments. This is a prologue to all of the creative phases of the program with a number of sections that I won’t list here. One of the last sections surprised me, but in retrospect, made me realize what a clever piece it was, all in one place. It was a section on Preferences. If you have ever used a computer, you realize that every program has a number of preferences which enable the user to direct the program’s responses in a manner in line with the user’s work-flow. Well, you can imagine the number of preferences Photoshop embodies. Well, here is section listing all of Photoshop’s preferences (including Adobe Bridge) in one place. That’s almost worth the price of the book.

I’ve spoken about this book’s ability to educate the new user but it also has considerable value as a reference tome. Its Table of Contents and its Index both provide a very useable look-up facility. It is fairly easy to find a wanted subject within the book in short order.

In summary, I found Visual Quickstart Guide, Photoshop CC to be a fact filled book. It may take a little longer to get through it but the reader will be much better prepared for all that Photoshop CC can offer. For the experienced Photoshop user, it offers much information as a reference manual in a very useable size.

A Photo Shop CC 2015 Reference Manual: Visual QuickStart Guide by Elaine Weinman and Peter Lourekas

The Photoshop CC: Visual QuickStart Guide 2015 by Weinmann and Lourekas is not for the beginner in Photo Shop. Although PACKED with all sorts of helpful text, screen shots, and photo illustrations; I had to STOP reading it after about 25 pages, and switch to the Faulkner Book. The Visual QuickStart Guide is so detailed that one is left "not finding a tree in a forest" (or some such slang-you know what I mean). It is a very detailed and Technical book which is a good supplement to the official "Classroom In A Book" product by Adobe. As for practicality it is somewhat deficient in its 1) use of infrequently worded vernacular(it's made for those people with fantastic English skills), 2) Lack of follow along Lessons such as the Faulkner book provides. It's advantage is that it is extremely detailed and could be used as a reference book for the Photo Shop "purist". Even though I stopped reading it for now, I will probably appreciate it better as I finish the Faulkner book and become more familiar with Photo Shop 2015 CC. A good reference book for the Photo Shop CC 2013 to CC 2014 veterans; quite harder for the beginner at the CS-5 or CS-6 Level.
